2015 Canada's West Marketplace® Trade Show to be held in Kelowna, British Columbia

BC – The 28th annual Canada’s West Marketplace trade show will be held in Kelowna, BC November 15th to 18th, 2015.

More than 300 British Columbia and Alberta tourism suppliers are expected to gather in Kelowna next year to meet with more than 120 tour operators and wholesalers from Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Established in 1989, the Canada’s West Marketplace trade show is a partnership between Destination British Columbia and Travel Alberta, and is an annual forum for promoting Western Canada tourism products to international and domestic tour operators. Each year, the trade show alternates locations between Alberta and BC.

“This year we proudly showcased the four-season, Rocky Mountain playground of Canmore Kananaskis.  In 2015, we’ll shine the spotlight on Kelowna, BC,” said Royce Chwin, Chief Executive Officer at Travel Alberta. “The marketing partnership between Travel Alberta and Destination British Columbia has been successful in establishing a Canada’s West brand and generating sales for operators in both provinces, with more than 10,000 appointments taking place at this year’s trade show.&rdquo

“Kelowna is an exciting hybrid of amazing food and wine, vibrant culture and beach-based vacations as well as many winter experiences, and an ideal location to host the 2015 Canada’s West Marketplace trade show,” said Marsha Walden, President and CEO, Destination British Columbia. “This is an important event for Western Canada’s tourism industry, helping us grow our tourism opportunities through strong relationships with the travel trade from across the country and around the world.  We look forward to welcoming everyone to Kelowna next year.”

“Hosting Canada’s West Marketplace in 2015 is a distinct honour,” said Nancy Cameron, President and CEO of Tourism Kelowna. “The trade show has enormous cachet with international tour operators and wholesalers. In addition to the immense long-term business development opportunities that this event creates for our region, it also contributes significant hotel nights with Kelowna accommodators at a typically slower time of the year.  We are pleased to be working with Destination BC, Travel Alberta and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association to make this event a great success.”
