Addictive Mobility, an industry leading mobile in-app advertising technology company, announced today that it has gone live with a highly engaging mobile advertisement for Destination British Columbia. As part of the Corporation’s promotion for this year’s ski season, consumers are able to check out the view from the top of Whistler Mountain through an immersive three-dimensional (3D) 360° virtual reality experience. The ad unit is appearing as either a rich media expandable banner or interstitial, and launches into the virtual reality experience when a consumer clicks on the ad. Once the consumer has entered into the experience, they can choose from three embedded hot spots to watch a point-of-view ski run video.
Destination British Columbia and Jungle Media, along with Camp Pacific, Destination British Columbia’s lead brand and creative agency, are known for pushing the envelope to create award-winning campaigns. Working together again on Destination BC’s 2015-2016 North America Ski Campaign, they pioneered this idea of creating an immersive experience that would highlight the beauty of BC’s ski mountains and engage consumers in a unique and entertaining mobile ad. When it was time to bring the concept to life, Jungle Media approached Addictive Mobility due to its cutting edge technical knowledge and expertise in mobile. Camp Pacific handled all production of the pristine panoramic image, at the top of WhistlerMountain, that captures the panoramic vistas and diverse terrain of BC’s mountains. Addictive Mobility’s creative team turned the flat image into a 3D 360° virtual reality experience. The point-of-view video hot spots embedded within the 3D virtual reality experience, (also produced by Camp Pacific), showcase Whistler-Blackcomb’s varied alpine terrain and provide users with a realistic taste of skiing in BC. The campaign is running until March across Addictive Mobility’s inventory of premium mobile apps.
