Destination British Columbia and BC’s six Tourism Regions (Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, Kootenay Rockies, Northern BC, Thompson Okanagan, Vancouver Island, and Vancouver Coast and Mountains) are working together to coordinate a consistent, accountable and transparent application process, across the province, for the Committee. The Committee will be comprised of 18 members, three nominated by each of the regions.
“Destination British Columbia is very excited to be working with our regional industry partners to create the Tourism Marketing Committee,” stated Destination British Columbia Board Chair, Andrea Shaw. “In a highly competitive environment, this committee will play a critical role in strengthening and aligning our marketing efforts, helping to grow our industry.”
Destination British Columbia has been mandated to fulfil several key marketing and leadership responsibilities critical to the long-term, sustainable growth of the provincial tourism industry. The Destination BC Corp. Act
requires the Board of Directors to establish a Tourism Marketing Committee. The committee will provide the Board and CEO with input on tourism marketing strategies, performance indicators, and recommendations on how to encourage collaboration and joint funding of marketing programs between private industry and Destination British Columbia.
Destination British Columbia is an industry-led Crown corporation that works collaboratively with tourism stakeholders across the province to coordinate marketing at the international, provincial, regional and local levels.
