Operating Guidelines

As we are now in Phase 3 of BC’s Restart Plan, WorkSafeBC has released guidelines for businesses and organizations in Phase 2 and 3 to help them develop their COVID-19 Safety Plans to reopen safely. Guidelines have been released for the following sectors relevant to BC’s tourism industry:

  • restaurants, cafes and pubs;
  • museums, art galleries and libraries;
  • retail;
  • parks and outdoor spaces;
  • office space;
  • accommodation;
  • performing arts; and
  • sports and recreation

Employers must use the WorkSafeBC protocols for returning to operation (below) to develop their COVID-19 Safety Plan, and also ensure they are abiding by any orders, notices, or guidance issued by the Provincial Health Officer, and the appropriate health authority for their workplace.

Additional resource from Destination BC: Guidelines for Re-Opening and Operating Community Visitor Centres during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional resource from go2HR: Several industry associations have compiled sector specific guidance—go2HR has rounded them up and provided a 3-step recommendation on how to use these guides along with WorkSafeBC protocols to build a robust COVID-19 Safety Plan for your business.
