TOURISM industry covid-19 safety plans

In accordance with the COVID-19 Safety Plan Order of BC’s Provincial Health Officer, introduced in the spring, every business must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan that outlines the policies, guidelines and procedures that it has implemented to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. As well as being posted publicly at the workplace, this plan must be posted on the business’ consumer-facing website, so that it is readily available for review by members of the public.

Tourism businesses must continue to implement these health and safety protocols and update them as necessary, to keep their patrons and staff safe.

This page contains:

  • BC Government Restoring Confidence App details;
  • Visitor Servicing Network safety plans;
  • COVID-19 safety plan resources;
  • Tourism sector organization safety plans;
  • Tourism associations safety plans; and
  • Ski Resort safety plans.

Government of British Columbia restoring Confidence App

By using the Restoring Confidence App, businesses can re-engage customers, restore customer confidence and encourage repeat business by promoting their compliance with health and workplace guidelines.  The Restoring Confidence App allows participating businesses to generate a local business poster, which includes a unique QR code that customers can scan to read the business’s COVID-19 Safety Plan. Participation is easy and the application can be completed in under 10 minutes.  Learn more here.

VISITOR SERVICES Network

Visitor Services Network Program members completed their individual COVID-19 Safety Plans in accordance with WorkSafeBC guidelines prior to re-opening in June 2020.  To assist the 130 Visitor Centres to re-open safely, Destination BC prepared the Guidelines for Reopening and Operating Community Visitor Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic in June 2020, which was reviewed by WorkSafeBC and later updated in January 2021.  Each community Visitor Centre is responsible for ensuing their plans are reviewed, posted and remain up-to-date, in accordance with WorkSafeBC and the Provincial Health Officer.   To further assist Visitor Centres to safely reopen, Destination BC provided up to $1,000 per Visitor Centre to obtain and install safety measures at their facilities.
