PURPOSE OF POSITION
As part of the Destination Management Division, the Destination Development Program plays a strategic role in driving and influencing partner engagement and development by leading the creation and supporting the implementation of long term integrated destination development strategies across the province to enhance tourism experiences, businesses and jobs, amplify the benefits of tourism to local economies, develop emerging sectors, like Indigenous tourism, while elevating British Columbia’s competitiveness as a destination for travel and investment in British Columbia.
The Destination Development Coordinator maintains strong, professional working relationships with Destination BC’s colleagues and contractors, and directly engages communities, regions and industry partners to facilitate collaboration in order to participate in programs and workshops to enhance the industry’s strength and knowledge of emerging trends. Under the direction of the Manager, Destination Development, the Destination Development Coordinator is responsible for being a key liaison between communities, facilitators, tourism regions and Destination BC’s government colleagues, offering planning tools to meet the changing needs of consumer.
This position encompasses tourism planning and the development of materials, monitoring and reporting, working closely with the other Destination BC Coordinators to ensure programs are up-to-date and relevant to the industry needs.
