Emergency Preparedness Week: Supporting a Prepared and Resilient Tourism Industry |
|
Emergency Preparedness Week takes place May 3–9, 2026. This year’s theme, “In it together,” recognizes that preparedness is stronger when we look out for one another. Tourism partners play an important role in this shared effort, helping to share trusted information, support visitors, and contribute to community resilience.
This week is an opportunity to explore and refresh emergency preparedness efforts across your organization. There are a wide range of tools, resources, and learning opportunities available to support this work, and throughout the week, Destination BC will be highlighting key resources to help tourism partners strengthen their readiness. By taking small steps and working collectively, we can continue to support safe, resilient communities and visitor experiences across BC. |

Tourism Emergency Management in BC |
| In BC, we have a dedicated group of tourism industry and government partners—the Tourism Emergency Management Committee (TEMC)—who work collaboratively to support the safety of visitors, the viability of tourism businesses, and our reputation as a safe and welcoming destination in a provincial or multi-regional emergency preparedness and response. The TEMC has established a robust BC Tourism Emergency Management Framework, which provides resources across the four pillars of emergency management: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. |
