National Geographic has named Vancouver one of its Best Places to Visit in 2026!

As BC prepares to welcome the world for FIFA World Cup 2026, Vancouver stands out as the only North American host city to earn a spot on the coveted list. Even more notably, the city was recognized as “the best of the cup’s 16 North American host cities”—a powerful endorsement of its travel appeal, natural beauty, and exceptional visitor experiences.

Among the highlights that secured Vancouver’s place on the list are:

  • Grouse Mountain’s new mountain bike park and alpine coaster
  • Stanley Park’s timeless charm
  • The waterfront walk at Jack Poole Plaza
  • A thriving culinary scene, including Botanist, the Michelin-starred Published on Main, the Granville Island Public Market, and curated food experiences like the Surrey Spice Trail, Richmond Dumpling Trail, Gastown Brunch Foodie Tour, and North Vancouver Foodie Tour.
  • Impeccable accommodations, such as Rosewood Hotel Georgia, The Smithe House, and the Park Hyatt Vancouver.

The international recognition comes from a feature written by Heather Greenwood Davis, with insights provided by Destination BC’s Travel Media team.
