Destination BC has a well-developed program to work with travel media – journalists or outlets who specialize in telling travel and lifestyle stories – to create exposure for BC as a destination of choice. Travel media relations is an essential marketing channel to tell our brand story, build awareness, and encourage travellers to visit BC.

Here some stories from December 2025 and how Destination BC supported them:

Powder – Revelstoke, Kicking Horse, and Heli-Skiing—How To Ski Canada’s Northern Powder Highway

Powder contributor Melissa McGibbon attended Destination BC’s group media trip in January 2025. Hosted in the Kootenay Rockies, the itinerary highlighted Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, and heli-skiing with CMH Purcell, alongside off-slope winter adventures that reinforce the POWDER HIGHWAY® as a premier ski destination.

 

Condé Nast Traveler – The Best Ski Resorts in the US and Canada: 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards

SilverStar Mountain Resort (#11) and Whistler Blackcomb (#9) were recognized in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. Destination BC maintains an ongoing relationship with writer Jen Murphy through regular pitching via The Pitch mailer and consistent engagement by DBC’s US PR team.

 

Inside Hook – What It’s Like to Ski British Columbia’s Powder Highway

InsideHook magazine story featuring Fernie Alpine Resort, December 2025

Destination BC, in partnership with Kootenay Rockies Tourism, hosted InsideHook writer John Briley on a press trip in March 2025. The visit included three days of skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort, resulting in coverage that highlights the terrain, snowfall, and mountain culture of the region.

 

National Post – 8 Canadian destinations you’ll want to visit in 2026 and when to go

National Post story featuring Vancouver, December 2025Vancouver and Kelowna were featured among eight Canadian destinations highlighted for 2026 in this “destinations you’ll want to visit in 2026” feature. Destination BC’s ongoing relationship with freelance writer Jody Robbins, including recent information sharing on Kelowna’s designation as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Gastronomy, contributed to the inclusion of two British Columbia destinations.

 

Accent – El Nuevo Terroir

Accent magazine story featuring Okangan Valley, December 2025

Mexico-based travel writer David R. Flores C. joined Destination BC’s Savouring Gifts of the Okanagan Valley press trip in October 2025. Hosted in the Thompson Okanagan, the itinerary highlighted harvest-season wine experiences, Indigenous storytelling, and Kelowna’s UNESCO City of Gastronomy credentials, resulting in coverage in Accent, Aeroméxico’s official in-flight magazine.

 

The Telegraph – The best Canadian holidays for wildlife spotting in the great outdoors

Telegraph story featuring wildlife viewing in BC, December 2025

UK-based travel writer Claire Dodd explored coastal British Columbia for a Telegraph feature focused on wildlife travel. The story highlights the Infinite Coast’s rainforests and rugged shoreline, including whale watching, bear viewing, and a stay at Klahoose Wilderness Resort in Desolation Sound.
