As BC’s tourism sector heads into winter, Destination BC’s Market Development teams across the Asia-Pacific region have been generating strong interest in our province’s winter and year-round travel experiences. Through trade events, training, and new partnerships, the teams are building visibility and engagement in key markets to support long-term recovery and growth.
Momentum in Vancouver
The month began with the annual CITAP+ Winter Function, bringing together more than 80 sellers and 100+ Receptive Tour Operator (RTO) staff. Destination BC hosted a busy booth during the afternoon marketplace and took in morning sessions filled with FIFA World Cup updates From Destination Vancouver and Tourism Toronto, air access news from YVR, and insights from Destination Canada and expert RTOs.

The following day, in partnership with Indigenous Tourism BC, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, and 4TVI, Destination BC met with trade partners, Discover Canada Tours and Dominion Tours, for destination training. These face-to-face meetings continue to strengthen partner relationships and highlight Indigenous experiences across BC.
China Ski Promotions Launch at Yunding Snow Park
In late November, Destination BC supported the launch of Canada’s National Pop-Up Pavilion at Yunding Snow Park, a Beijing 2022 Olympic venue that welcomes more than 200,000 visitors monthly. The pavilion, open through January 2026, includes a BC-themed zone showcasing winter experiences through immersive visuals and storytelling. It coincides with key seasonal events like the FIS Halfpipe World Cup, giving BC premium exposure with winter sport travellers.

Promoting Heli-Skiing in China’s Premium Travel Market
Destination BC also joined Heliski China for a special event in October, sharing BC’s winter charm with 65 influential skiers, industry professionals, and past heli-skiing guests. The session introduced upcoming CMH Heli Ski group trips and sparked interest in BC’s winter tourism experiences, including opportunities beyond the slopes.

Australia: Building on Radical Ambassador Success
In partnership with Destination Canada Australia and KarryOn, six travel advisors visited BC in late September as part of the Radical Ambassador Canada Specialist familiarity trip. This year’s theme, Valleys & Vineyards, included visits to Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon, Vancouver and more. Following a content creation masterclass, advisors are now sharing their experiences with clients and followers across social media and industry channels.
