Destination BC and Partners Target Singapore Market with Spring Familiarization Tours

Last year, Air Canada announced the strategic expansion of its international network with the addition of non-stop flights between its Trans-Pacific hub at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Singapore’s Changi International Airport (SIN). The new route commenced in early April 2024, and now operates four times weekly, with a 5th flight/week scheduled to start in December.

To support the awareness of this new route, Destination BC teamed up with Air Canada, Destination Vancouver, Tourism Richmond, Vancouver Hotel Destination Association and YVR to host two familiarization tours (FAMs) in May.

In early May, we invited four travel media and influencers based in Singapore to travelt o Richmond and Vancouver for a FAM focused on city, cultural, culinary and nature experiences, which resulted in earned media through their channels.

For the second FAM, we identified four key tour operators from Singapore who we invited to meet in person at Rendez-vous Canada 2024 in Edmonton May 14-17. Following the tradeshow, the tour operators joined us in travelling to Vancouver and Richmond where we guided them through experiences and elevated opportunities to promote travel packages to BC and Canada.

Thank you to the partners and BC suppliers for their support on these important visits!

In addition to opportunities with Singapore as a market, this new Air Canada route will also help support other markets in Asia such as Indonesia, Malaysia, SE India, and it is also a good connection for Australians travelling from Perth/Western Australia to Vancouver.
