This summer, Canadian residents are invited to explore more of British Columbia’s remarkable natural and cultural sites at no, or reduced, cost with the new Canada Strong Pass, available from June 20 to September 2, 2025.
Announced by the Department of Canadian Heritage and shared by Destination Canada, the Canada Strong Pass offers free and discounted access to many of the country’s most celebrated attractions, including several destinations across BC.
Attractions Canadians can visit for free with the Canada Strong Pass in BC include:
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, Fort Rodd Hill Historic Site, and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site on Vancouver Island
Fort Langley National Historic Site and Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in the Lower Mainland
Yoho, Glacier, Mount Revelstoke, and Kootenay National Parks in the Kootenays
Gulf Islands National Park Reserve in the Southern Gulf Islands
Fort St. James National Historic Site and Gitwangak Battle Hill National Historic Site in Northern BC
Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area Reserve, and Haida Heritage Site in Haida Gwaii
Families can enjoy a 25% discount on Parks Canada camping fees, supporting affordable overnight stays in some of BC’s most scenic landscapes.
The pass also offers free admission for children aged 17 and under, and 50% off for young adults aged 18–24, at participating provincial and territorial museums and galleries.
Discounted travel to, and across, BC with VIA Rail is also included in the pass, with children travelling for free when accompanied by an adult, and young adults receiving a 25% discount.
Registration is not required and there is no physical pass to purchase, collect, or present. Simply visit any participating Parks Canada site, museum, gallery, or VIA Rail to access these benefits.
Whether you’re planning a camping getaway, revisiting a historic site, or discovering a new gallery, this summer is a chance to take advantage of this opportunity to #ExploreBC more affordably.
There will be many participating provincial and territorial museums and galleries across the country. It’s a good idea to check directly with each site to confirm their participation before visiting.
For full eligibility details and participating locations, visit the official Canada Strong Pass website.
A previous version of this article referenced both the Royal BC Museum in Victoria and the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver as participating in the Canada Strong Pass. While the Royal BC Museum is participating, MOA is not, and that reference has been removed.
