At its April meeting, the Sunshine Coast Destination Management Council reaffirmed that improving transportation to, from, and within the region remains a top priority. The Council received an update on BC Ferries’ New Major Vessels plan and noted Vancouver City Council’s recent approval of a plan that could introduce electric ferry service connecting downtown Vancouver with Gibsons and Bowen Island.
Sunshine Coast Tourism also provided an update on the development of a new five-year strategy, in preparation for the upcoming Municipal & Regional District Tax renewal. The Council was pleased to hear about the success of the first annual Flavour Festival, which supports the Sunshine Coast Destination Development Strategy’s goal of cultivating events and showcasing culinary tourism experiences.
