Earlier this month, the BC Aviation Council hosted their annual conference in Kamloops. This year’s theme, “Innovation – Eyes on the Horizon”, focused on the innovations needed to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and competitiveness in the industry.
Destination BC’s Director of Destination Development & Stewardship, Erica Hummel, was invited to participate in a panel on tourism innovation together with Ellen Walker-Matthews, CEO & President of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Dawn Rueckl, Director of Industry Development at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture & Sport, and Chief Frank Antoine, Chief (kukpi7) of Bonaparte First Nation and Found & CEO of Moccasin Trails.
Key themes from the panel included:

The discussion focused on how air access can unlock sustainable, year-round tourism and help support the full spectrum of world-class destinations across BC. Erica highlighted that Destination BC’s work goes beyond marketing, collaborating with industry partners to optimize sustainable growth through year-round travel and improving access to attractions that need it.
We’d like to thank the BC Aviation Council for the invitation and opportunity to contribute to this dialogue. We’re proud to continue working with partners to grow a tourism industry that enhances quality of life for all British Columbians.
