Kettle Valley Rail Trail | Destination BC/Kari Medig
Set within British Columbia’s southern interior, Valleys & Vineyards spans the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. From the golden contours of Canada’s only pocket desert to the rolling hills, fertile orchards, and expansive lakes like Okanagan and Osoyoos, this is a place where the natural environment both inspires and provides.
For the Syilx Okanagan Peoples, water is life—a truth that flows through the region’s lakes, nourishing volcanic soils, and sustaining more than 200 wineries and thriving agricultural communities. Local communities have built livelihoods around the land’s abundance, crafting experiences that are rooted, resilient, and ready to be shared.
Travellers here move at their own rhythm, discovering a region that offers the kind of relaxed sophistication and grounded charm that turns a visit into a lasting memory. Days are shaped by indulging the senses. Whether tasting award-winning wines, cycling historic rail trails, lingering over meals crafted from local bounty, or learning the stories behind the land and its caretakers, visitors are invited to slow down and stay longer. Across seasons, Valleys & Vineyards offers an invitation to connect, savour, and return.
The tourism industry in BC will benefit from this strategy through increased global demand for more places/seasons in British Columbia. By turning the immense geography and experiential diversity in BC into clear, compelling options that simplify discovery and planning, the new family of destination brands will help travellers more easily understand and choose more places in BC and across all seasons, ultimately ensuring BC can compete and win against global destinations, and spreading the benefits of tourism throughout the province.
