Destination BC continues to build awareness and consideration for travel to British Columbia through strategic international media partnerships, including recent coverage on one of Australia’s best-known travel television programs.
In May 2026, Destination BC’s Australia team brought over the crew of The Great Outdoors on Australia’s Seven Network for a Rainforest to Rockies journey through Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, Kamloops, and Wells Gray Park. The resulting episodes recently aired across Australia, reaching approximately one million viewers.
The program showcased a range of experiences that help inspire future travel to British Columbia, from vibrant urban experiences and mountain communities to wildlife encounters and iconic natural landscapes. By bringing trusted travel media to the destination, Destination BC helps introduce BC experiences to potential visitors and keeps the province top of mind as Australians plan future overseas holidays.
Media visits such as this are an important part of Destination BC’s international marketing efforts. Third-party storytelling through respected travel media helps build credibility, expand reach, and create inspiring content that encourages people to learn more about visiting British Columbia.
According to show hosts James Tobin and Jed Smith, along with series producer Sammy Cheney, the team thoroughly enjoyed their time in British Columbia and is eager to return.
The episodes are now available to view online through The Great Outdoors Series 3.
