Destination BC has released updated Regional Tourism Profiles, providing the latest tourism economic indicators and regional tourism data for each of the six tourism regions in British Columbia.

The profiles incorporate newly released 2024 data from BC Stats and provide a regional view of tourism’s contribution to local economies across the province. Available for the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, Kootenay Rockies, Northern BC, Thompson Okanagan, Vancouver Island, and Vancouver, Coast & Mountains, the profiles help tourism businesses, destination management organizations, Indigenous tourism partners, local governments, researchers, media, and other tourism industry partners access current information to support planning, investment, destination development, and decision-making.

This release is a targeted update focused on regional tourism economic indicators. The profiles reflect BC Stats’ revised methodology and include the most current data available for Regional Tourism Revenue, Regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Spending, and Employment.

Tourism continues to be an important contributor to communities throughout British Columbia. It supports local businesses and jobs, generates economic activity, and contributes to community well-being across the province. The Regional Tourism Profiles help illustrate tourism’s economic contribution within each region and provide a consistent source of regional tourism statistics and economic information.

The profiles are designed to support a wide range of users across the tourism industry and related sectors. By presenting tourism research and regional economic data in an accessible format, they help build understanding of tourism’s value and support informed, evidence-based decision-making.

Regional Tourism Profiles are part of Destination BC’s ongoing commitment to providing timely, relevant tourism research, data, and insights that help tourism businesses, organizations, and communities make informed decisions.
