After more than 36 years of shaping and stewarding BC’s tourism ecosystem, Walt Judas has announced he will be stepping down as CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of BC.
Walt is more than a seasoned tourism professional—he’s a cornerstone of this industry. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at BC Pavco, Port Metro Vancouver, and Destination Vancouver, before bringing his well of wisdom and signature steadiness to TIABC. He’s also contributed his expertise to an extensive list of boards, committees, and advisory groups—from tourism program committees at Capilano University and Vancouver Community College, to chairing the Provincial & Territorial Tourism Industry Association, and serving on the board of Tourism Industry Association of Canada.
Walt’s career reflects a lifelong commitment to tourism advocacy and civic leadership. Yet for those of us fortunate enough to have worked alongside him, it’s not just his professional achievements that stand out, but the way he leads: with integrity, empathy, and kindness.
While he is stepping away from the CEO role, Walt isn’t leaving the industry altogether. He has indicated that he’s leaving the door open to projects that align with his values… so his next chapter is likely to be just as impactful as the last.
On behalf of the entire tourism community:
Thank you, Walt. You’ve left this industry better than you found it, and that’s the legacy of a true leader.
Please join us in congratulating Walt on an extraordinary career, and in wishing him continued success, fulfillment, and well-deserved time for new adventures ahead.
