Stay Local, Support Local: Take-Out and Outdoor Dining Guides

Warmer weather is on the horizon, and many parts of the province are showing signs of spring. We know BC residents are more interested than ever in spending time outside for their physical and mental well-being, and that they want to continue supporting their community by buying direct from local businesses and producers.

As we enter the new season, and in an effort to encourage British Columbians to stay local while adhering to the latest public health guidelines, we’re curating community guides that feature outdoor dining and take-out options. Here’s where our partners come in:

  1. Let us know if your community or region has created content that promotes food and drink establishments that are a) currently open; b) follow current public health orders; and c) have posted information about their health and safety protocols to their website.
  2. Consider developing a take-out and/or outdoor dining guide (as described above) for your community or area that we can promote.  
  3. Tip: Try more visual formats. If you use CrowdRiff as part of the UGC Partnership Network, encourage local businesses and partners to upload assets to CrowdRiff Collector for inclusion in curated UGC galleries that can be embedded on websites. Or, round up businesses to feature and post them as a collection as an Instagram Guide.

Here are some examples of content created by our tourism partners: Tourism Kelowna’s Patio Guides on Instagram, Tourism PG’s “Grub” page and Tourism Vancouver’s “take-out and delivery restaurants” listing.


Send links to your dining guides to GlobalContent@DestinationBC.ca, so we can fold them into our content planning and distribution, starting in April.
