Destination BC is sharing a leadership update as the organization continues its work with across the British Columbia tourism industry.

Effective November 6, Maya Lange will serve as Interim President and CEO, and Leah Poulton will serve as Interim Vice President, Global Marketing.

The interim appointments support continuity as Richard Porges steps down as President and CEO on November 6.

Maya Lange is currently Chief Marketing Officer at Destination BC, where she leads international marketing for tourism to British Columbia. She has extensive global private and public sector leadership experience and has transformed the approach to tourism marketing and destination branding in BC through data, AI and digital innovation. In 2018, she was named Canada’s Marketer of the Year.

Leah Poulton is currently Director, Global Brand Strategy at Destination BC. With her team, she leads the vision and growth of the Super, Natural British Columbia® brand family, including the Iconic route and place brands. Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, Leah brings extensive knowledge of Destination BC’s brand and marketing strategy and a strong connection to the work of sharing British Columbia with travellers around the world.

These interim appointments provide continuity for Destination BC’s work with tourism businesses, communities, and partners throughout the leadership transition.

Destination BC’s work will continue, with a focus on growing tourism across more places and seasons, strengthening global demand for British Columbia, developing compelling visitor experiences with industry partners, and increasing the benefits tourism delivers to people and communities across the province.

Destination BC’s Board of Directors continues its search for the organization’s next President and CEO.
