On March 10, 2022, BC’s Provincial Health Officer (PHO), Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced that that the order requiring employers to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan would expire. Starting April 8, 2022, businesses will instead transition from COVID-19 safety plans to communicable disease plans.
Employers will be supported by WorkSafeBC and the PHO in implementing disease prevention plans, and can visit WorkSafeBC’s website for details, including a comprehensive Communicable disease prevention: A guide for employers, FAQs, responding to elevated risks, and more.
While the province is transitioning from existing COVID-19 safety plans to communicable disease prevention, businesses should still demonstrate that they are continuing to practice the fundamental aspects of disease prevention and control.
