    • The Value of Tourism

The Vancouver, Coast & Mountains tourism region acknowledges with gratitude the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) on whose shared territories we operate our main office. We respectfully recognize that we carry out our work on the lands of 54 First Nations throughout this region. We are on a path of learning and are committed to working together.

Uniquely managed by Destination BC, the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains (VCM) tourism region expands outwards from Metro Vancouver along three main arteries: the Sunshine Coast, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon, which are anchored by the Fraser River. The region connects to the Gold Rush Trail up the Fraser Canyon, and to the Highway 3 Corridor through Hope and Manning Park.

The region boasts many partners vital to the success of local tourism, including:

  • 54 First Nations
  • 35 municipalities
  • 5 regional districts, and portions of 4 additional regional districts
  • Numerous electoral areas
  • 27 Community Destination Management Organizations (CDMOs), inclusive of municipalities that have Economic Development Officers with tourism as part of their portfolios
  • 6 destination development planning areas

The Vancouver, Coast & Mountains team connects industry partners with programs and resources available through Destination BC as well as opportunities that are regionally-specific.
