Destination BC’s Travel Media Team on Building Destination Awareness

Travel media relations is an essential marketing channel to tell our brand story, build awareness, and encourage travellers to visit BC.

Destination BC’s well-developed travel media program is carried out by our Travel Media Specialists, who work tirelessly to proactively seek out opportunities, pitch BC tourism stories, and host top-tier outlets across the province in order to maintain strong relationships with journalists and create exposure for BC as a destination of choice.

To build destination awareness in the UK market, for example, the team recently hosted media from The Times and The Sunday Times in Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver Island and Northern BC. Trip coverage promoted the variety of exciting adventures and activities to be had in BC, as well as offering inspiration for a different way of exploring BC, by water, with Bluewater Adventures!
