The ten-year Destination Development Strategies for this region were formed through an iterative, consultative and collaborative process which started in 2016 and is currently ongoing. This region includes three primary planning areas which are North Island, South Central Island and Greater Victoria. This region is inclusive of Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands as well as a stretch of the mainland coast between Moses and Bute Inlets. The region also includes a diverse array of over fifty First Nations.
Tourism into this region of the province is strong during the summer with the main tourism drivers being Victoria, Ucluelet, Nanaimo and Tofino. The key activities driving visitation to this region are outdoor adventure experiences and soft, outdoor activities as well as festivals, events and conferences. Notable highlights of this region include a variety of beautiful National Parks and BC Parks.
